2026 residential heat pump rebates
The standard residential air-source heat pump rebate is $250 per ton up to $2,500 per home. The Energy Optimization path starts at $1,000 per ton up to $10,000 when replacing natural gas, oil, propane, or electric resistance; enhanced incentives may apply under current rules.
Who may qualify
The standard form covers existing heat pump replacement, a previously unconditioned space, cooling-only use, or an installation without integrated controls. Primary heating replacement from gas, oil, propane, or electric resistance uses the Energy Optimization path instead.
Equipment rules
The standard program requires ENERGY STAR Cold Climate certification or a model listed on the Energize Connecticut Heat Pump Qualified Product List. Tonnage is based on AHRI cooling capacity.
Contractor rule
The equipment must be installed by a contractor participating in the Energize Connecticut Heat Pump Installer Network.
How to apply
Apply online through EnergizeCT.com/Rebates or use the current paper form. The administrator can select projects for inspection, so keep the equipment and project records available.
Pre-approval
The current 2026 paper form describes post-installation submission and possible inspection. Confirm any pre-verification or financing requirement with Energize Connecticut before signing a quote.
Timing and funding
Qualifying installations must be completed between January 1 and December 31, 2026. The standard application and required documents must be postmarked by February 27, 2027.
Documents to keep
The form requests a completed signed application, contractor invoice, indoor and outdoor model numbers, installation date, paid-in-full amount, AHRI reference, and contractor information.
