Sample prices below are illustrative, not current Electrify America quotes. Check the station or app and enter both rates for the same location and time.

Membership decision at your inputs$7.00 saved / month

Nonmember $56.00 versus member $49.00 per active month, including membership.

$7.00 saved over 1 active month.

Break-even: 50 paid kWh per month, after free energy. Equal costs at the threshold; savings above it when the member rate is lower.

Station energyNonmemberMember + feeNet savings
0 kWh$0.00$7.00-$7.00
50 kWh$28.00$28.00$0.00
100 kWh$56.00$49.00$7.00
200 kWh$112.00$91.00$21.00

Formula Paid kWh = max(0, station kWh − shared free kWh). Savings = paid kWh × (nonmember rate − member rate) − monthly fee.

This comparison uses per-kWh billing and the same demand every active month. Fees, taxes and idle charges are excluded. Count every billed membership month, including unused months. Free charging must apply equally to both plans; compare offer-specific rules separately.

Is Electrify America Pass Plus worth it?

Compare the same station's member and nonmember prices with the monthly fee and the energy you expect to buy. This calculator works for Electrify America Pass Plus and other per-kWh membership plans. The sample prices are illustrative. Enter current station prices from the provider's app or charger screen; they can vary by location and time of day.

Worked example

With an illustrative $7 monthly fee, $0.56/kWh nonmember rate and $0.42/kWh member rate, the discount is $0.14/kWh. The plans break even at 50 paid kWh per month. At 100 paid kWh, nonmember charging costs $56 and membership costs $49 including the fee, saving $7. At zero charging, the membership still costs $7.

How to use the result

Use energy billed by the station, so charging losses are not added again. Subtract complimentary energy only when it applies to both plans on the same terms. The period result assumes the same demand in every billed month. Check cancellation timing and offer restrictions with your provider. Session fees, taxes, idle fees, per-minute billing and differences between stations are outside this comparison.

Frequently asked questions

How much charging makes Pass Plus worth it?
Divide the monthly membership fee by the difference between the nonmember and member prices per kWh. With a $7 fee and $0.14/kWh discount, 50 paid kWh breaks even. These are illustrative inputs; enter your station's current rates.
Should I subscribe just for a road trip?
Enter the charging you expect during the billed month and compare savings after the fee. Include any additional billed months required by the plan's cancellation timing. This tool calculates costs; it does not subscribe or cancel for you.
Does free charging change the break-even point?
Yes. Only charging that would otherwise be paid earns a discount. Enter free energy only if the offer applies equally to both plans. If the offer has different rules for membership, compare its terms separately.
Can I save my charging plan?
Yes. Save plan stores these inputs in your current browser. Load saved plan restores them on a later visit. No account is needed.
