Sourced reference table
Vehicle Towing Capacity by Year
Compare towing capacity across published engines and model years. Every value links to its source-backed service sheet.
Maximum trailer weight, towing package and payload
A towing-capacity search needs more than a year and model. Engine, drivetrain, axle ratio, cab, towing equipment and trailer brakes can affect the manufacturer's limit. A single maximum is useful only when its configuration matches the vehicle.
The complete vehicle reference keeps towing and payload separate. Check the towing guide and vehicle labels for your configuration; a model-wide maximum is not a substitute for your vehicle's ratings. Values not compiled with sufficient context remain unpublished.
Budget fuel after checking towing limits
Once your exact configuration, trailer, payload and hitch ratings are verified, use the trailer-trip fuel budget with measured towing MPG, unhitched miles and a fuel reserve. The calculator does not establish safe towing capacity.
Frequently asked questions
- Can GVWR or curb weight tell me towing capacity?
- Neither field alone establishes the manufacturer's permitted trailer weight. Use the towing guide and the vehicle's equipment-specific ratings. This reference does not derive towing limits from vPIC weight fields.
- Where can I see the complete vehicle specifications?
- Open a year and model in the table to view its service specifications, EPA MPG, fuel-cost calculator, recall campaigns and safety ratings together.
