Compare DIY oil-change cost with a shop quote
Multiply the required oil quantity in US quarts by price per quart, then add the filter and labor amounts. Set labor to zero for a parts-only DIY estimate. Use the oil capacity and required oil specification for the exact engine, not just its model name.
Worked example
Five quarts at $8 per quart cost $40. Add a $12 filter and $35 labor for an $87 estimate. With labor set to zero, the same example is $52 for oil and filter before taxes and other charges.
How to use the result
Bottle sizes can make the checkout total different from the exact oil quantity used. Taxes, disposal fees, tools and other shop charges are not separate inputs in this calculator. A low price does not make an incorrect oil type or filter suitable.
