Identification versus recall status
A decoded make and model identify a vehicle; they do not establish that a recall applies to it. A model-year campaign list and a VIN-specific recall result answer different questions. Use the VIN check when you need to know about an outstanding repair.
How to use the result
VIN decoding is free and requires no API key. It sends the entered VIN directly to NHTSA only after you choose Decode VIN. Some fields may be absent. This site does not store the VIN or put it in its own page URL.
